Is it me, or are we getting more bad banner ads? I've been getting some of the annoying talking ones and I swear one tried to install a virus on my computer last week.

And lastly I'm looking at a Nextag ad right now and if the site I work for isn't one of the "4 sellers" for that Tombow glue refill...

Yeah I believe Andrea got some spyware from this forum...and she had to empty her cookies to get rid of it....I had that download thing several times and it was creepy

I know when I was using my sister's comp it died while I was out in Rhode Island it might have picked up a virus from here....

We may have to move these forums to a different location. It's been talked about for quite awhile now. I would say it's safe to plan on an eventual change to our own hosting closer to April when I can sit down with Capito to work things out.

Agreed. I'm really thinking that it is becoming very cost effective to keep a backup to our forums. The only problem being making sure there isn't a huge amount of traffic on that server.

Exactly. It's something we'll have to toy around with, but we'll figure it out!

AdBlock Plus on Firefox is your friend. I've never seen an ad on these sites... ever.

Yeah, the ads are getting bad. And right now the page just told me I won. @_@

I've had trouble with full on page-redirects too now. I've had to spysweep twice, there are only so many sites that I go to so it might be safe to conclude it's coming from here.

You can't simply demand people get Adblock in order to enjoy the forum without obnoxious banners.

I'd love to simply see the forum on our own hosted space, so that it could then simply be "daishocon.com/forum". Of course that's easier said than done, but SOMEONE here has to know how to code a forum... right? >>;

Programming the forum isn't hard... instead the problem lies with keeping the posts that we have now. We would lose everything if we didn't have a method of backing up the forums. That is the first issue.

There are none. We don't control the hosting, thus we don't control the ads.

That being said, I will contact the technical support and tell them there is concern over the ads having spyware, and being way too annoying. That's all that can be done for now.

Well, for now use AdBlock... It's free, and it takes the vast majority of the ads off the Internet.
