Books you hated

Postby couchmaster on Tue Dec 16, 2008 11:42 am

What books did you read and you despised them to the core of your being.

Personally I really didn't like Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King. Nor do i like much of his other works. He is too long winded and isn't at all good at making a point. Rather boring really.

I also didn't like many of Tad Williams earlier works. But maybe i should reread them.

I'm going to have to say Ethan Frome was absolute poopy. And that may be insulting to poopy.

Digital Fortress was pretty bad as well, what with terminal stupidity being their best feature.
I have to warn you, I am a bit odd...
Also, I don't know better than to leave myself logged in on April 1st.

Moby Dick. Worst Book ever. I'll make arguments later if people want them.

The Mists of Avalon.
King Arthur from the female perspective sounded interesting until halfway through the book everyone was in their eighties and nothing happened. That and female authors, or at least most of the ones I have read, focus on sex too much, it just seems useless to have in a story. Didn't need to hear about Gwens threesome with Arthur and Lancelot thank you very much, keep your sex fantasies in bad fanfiction.
Given that I would never live that down, I made a wisecrack instead. "Do you have a little white dress? I've had this deep-seated nurse fantasy about you, Murphy."

The Scarlet Letter... Never ever again will I deal in that overly detailed preachy piece of gothic lit crap.

I know we have Twilight bashers about. I will not say anything bad about that book, as I actually enjoyed it(even if I make fun of it too :P), but Breaking Dawn made me wtf.

I hate Twilight... I suppose I'll make an attempt to avoid the inevitable rant and just leave it at that.

Erm, other books I hated were 'Their Eyes Were Watching God' and... (I know I'll probably get hit for this one) 'The Catcher in the Rye'....

Was I the only once who just wanted to smack Holden frickin' Caulfield upside the head and tell him to shut his whiny face?

Especially cuz it was only our group that had to read it. The other groups got to read ender's game.

I just got done reading ender's game a few weeks ago. Fantastic book.

I'm a few pages into the second one, and I'm not sure what to think at this point. It seems...odd?

Another book that sucked? The Sword of Shanarra. It was such a terrible rip-off of Lord of the Rings, that I put it down after predicting 3 chapters in a row. Just sucked.

It's the only book that I started and put it down simply because of the shoddy quality or because I had no interest. Otherwise, I read everything I start.

You know what's scary? There are sequels. I still don't understand why I read them. I'm going to claim that I was just young and naive.
