DaishoCast

Well, interest has begun, so let's get this train rolling.
I've been contacted by Belldandy4087 who's willing to help with the cast, and I was wondering if anyone else would want in. Depending on staffing and interest, we can take this show in a number of different directions. We can go with an impromtu panel discussion show (like This Week in Tech, GeekCast or DiggNation), we can make it a storyboarded, heavily edited show (Like The Cavern Today or TekZilla), or anything you can think of. Obviously, we'll be talking about DaishoCon, Anime, Sci-Fi, VideoGames... the whole 9 yards. Perhaps we can even have some reports on the location of Stevie Mushashi.... I've done some time being an internet field reporter. :)

So... possible positions would include Host/Co-Host/Panel Member (depending on the format), writer, audio mixer/editor, someone to help with the Web backend to get the Feed running, and a Producer to tie everything together. Not all these positions need to be filled, but the more people we have on the team the better the show will be.

Start shooting ideas for the show... what do you want to hear, and how do you want to hear it?

EDIT: Current Staff members:

Alhon: Host/Producer
BellyDandy4087: Host
BMK: Field Reporter
CapitoCapito: Host/Web Designer/Awesome Dude?
Liquid86: PostProduction?
Couchmaster: ??

I think it'd be really cool if you guys did it like DiggNation...I love their format, and it'd be cool to see you guys just chilling and talking about stuff. Also, grabbing people as they walked by for interviews, getting updates from the staff, the latest on Stevie Musashi, changes to the con schedule, etc. Sounds like a really sweet idea

OK, let's get a few clarifications done first.

I was intending to do this as a straight audio production, as I am lacking a decent camera and space, but if we can get that, It's definitely an option.

As for content, it would be general Geekdom, with emphasis on Anime, but with some side tangents hitting Video Games and Sci-Fi. I'm just too big of a Doctor Who fan. :P
We would start as soon as possible, but with my school schedule it might not be until after semester lets out. My final projects are insane, and I only have a month to get it done. However, this is why I thought an Audio production would work better. Using Skype, we can do a very good panel-style show. So, that way we can be all across the country and still put something awesome together.

Because this would in fact be a DaishoCast, we would also talk about things happening with the con, including profiles on the guests, interviews, discussion of the panels as we get them in, and other things Daisho-related, culminating in a live show direct from the con. If I have the impulse, we could even livecast it on UStream. Shouldn't take too long.

So, hope that answers a few of your questions, Wheelie.

@BMK: Awesome. :) This works with the Skype idea, or if we do something video, then a pre-recorded segment would be awesome too. Obviously still in the discussion stages, but I'd love to have you on board however we do this. :)

@Liquid 86: What do you feel like doing? :P

Okay, that all makes perfect sense now...and it sounds awesome!

Would you do a show at the con as well? Because I think that would be awesome to show it afterwards or at the end of each day. If so, I think the one at the con should be video recorded like diggnation. :)

I would love to help in conversations and planning. I can attend through Skype, and I have radio talk-show experience.

I'm sure we could find some hosting for you if you guys have none; our new server is pretty awesome.

EDIT: Since we're doing this on Skype, don't give up on doing guest interviews, instead of just overviews. In this case we'll need to play out the idea of scripting questions. "What would you do if you were confronted by a charizard?" We'll want to announce our guests and put up forum posts asking for member's questions.

Alhon, let's start a "DaishoCast Staff" list.

REGARDING DAISHOCON PODCASTING
An Informative Double Post.

I'm thinking I could set up a wordpress blog on our server when the time is ready. We can upload our files to the blog, and tag those posts with "daishocast." I'll give Cast Staff permissions to post and upload files, and our feeds will practically manage themselves.

Podcasting for the win.

Fantastic ideas. I'm willing to help out in any way I can if you need comments/material/interviews etc. Capito is a great resource as he has a TON of radio experience.

I'm guessing that a lot of staff and members of this board would be willing to participate? Giving interviews about the things they are participating in or most excited for at Daisho Con.

I can see it now: princess_sarah_em and serra talk about the pending rematch of skirts vs. rangers? 1stAgent skype's in with his latest convention report? Couchmaster and BMK give updates on their revamped Zombie panel for '09? Nick Izumi reports the latest in the ongoing Stevie Musashi Saga? blackhayate gives analysis on the upcoming video game tournaments? The list is almost endless! :)

@Capito: Definately. In fact, the reason we used Skype so often when I was with TCT was because of the ease of getting interviews with members of Cyan Worlds staff as well as a few GameTap executives. Interviews can definately be part of the new cast.
And you're welcome to help in any way you want. You've definitely got an awesome radio voice, and I wouldn't have any problem fitting you in.

@Wheelie: The plan initially is Yes. We would do a Special episode and release it as an MP4. However, depending on response, we might release an MP3 format as well. More people can get it that way.

Let's start scheduling a Skype Meeting and get a few things down. When is going to be good for you? This week and weekend is probably out because of school/Easter Holiday, but starting next week?

Daishocast Test podcast

Postby Belldandy4087 on Wed Apr 08, 2009 8:00 pm

Since we are getting things lined up lets do a practice podcast, just so we can get an idea of how we are going to do things! Plus since this is just audio we can take a laptop and a mic to the con and do an interview with the guests and put them into a show. So let make like Chris Redfield and get this boulder rolling.

@Alhon

I'm open for anything. Obviously, Anime and Music are my forte, but I can also lend considerable post-production experience to the effort. I have a lot of experience in audio editing and mastering.

Let me know what you desire.
