I need an idea!

If anyone wants to 'prove' that their position is better, just PM me and I'd be willing to debate it as a straw man for

I am on the position that we should debate something, anyone oppose?

I am opposed on the basis that without any subject to conform to, we will not be able to be kept on topic, and therefor it is a slippery slope into mere argument.

I, for one, think that we shouldn't debate. Meta-debating isn't out of the question though.

*Ahem* debating is a terrible thing to do. It drives people apart and can often be boring. This argument also coincides with the reasoning that we should solve all our differences with violence.

Debating is often tedious cuz you need to go and find out about the subject you're debating on otherwise someone will just tear your arugment apart.

Debating also makes people feel stupid since it's often an intellectual battle and if you can't keep up, then you start feeling bad about yourself, and we don't need to feel bad about themselves.

Hopefully these points will help you see that debating is silly and shouldn't be done on this thread.

Debating is a wonderful thing! It allows you to express your oppinion in a more formal way without feeling like the time isn't right or that you're out of place!

Debating is also wonderful BECAUSE it is an intellectual battle! It gives you a chance to show how far your vast pools of knowledge reach. And when you loose you don't feel bad- It just makes you want to go off and learn so you can better represent next time the opertunity comes around!

Debating seems to be merely a test of presence. Much like two apes will circle each other and howl, trying to intimidate the opponent, so too is debating us circling each other making loud noises in an attempt to solve our differences without actually fighting. It is a roundabout and lengthy process that could easily be solved with a duke-it-out: if I win, I'm right; if you win, you're right.

funny enough one of the biggest and most poplular debates going on is about the method used in proffessional debate...
