Dune by Frank Herbert is really good thus far. I am only 100 pages in, but I am enjoying it very much.

It's a really good book, and they stay good all the way through Children of Dune... but after it really starts getting weird. And while the Kevin J Anderson Dune books aren't bad... they aren't anything compared to the originals. Although I did enjoy the "Butlerian Jihad" trilogy. Best of the Andersons, IMO.

Keep reading, in fact I would recommend reading that one twice. It gets very deep into the socio-political structure of the universe and I personally always found that very interesting. I personally stayed with the series through God-Emperor of Dune, then fell off. Maybe I'll pick it up again sometime.
