This version of Liore was pretty disappointing. I mean it was really rushed and felt like they were just going through the motions. It defeats the point of a reboot if you assume everyone saw the first.

The talk Ed has with Rose reminds me of actual conversations I've had though. (Albeit there was very little sympathy for her character this time around.)

I finally saw the first episode. It seemed alright. Not sure what else to say about it.

Sorry Nick, but I disagree. Again, they have to fit a lot of stuff in. The episode with Cornello? That's a fraction of the first manga. And there's well over 20 of them. They really can't afford to stretch some of these episodes out.

Yeah I agree with you, Nick. It was bit rushed but I kinda like the side glimpse they have gaven us. I am excited to see where Winry fits more in.
Oh yeah I am sure you will defiantly appreciate my newest graphic set. :D

I have to say that episode 5 was awesome. I've always been a fan of Scar, and he put up a good fight.

For those who are still sticking to the heart-felt side of FMA, Ed gives a very nice soliloquy (I guess that's the best term to use here) towards the beginning, before Scar comes in to crash the pity party.

I'm liking Brotherhood so far. I do think the Nina scene was still quite emotional. Anyone who thought it wasn't powerful enough just were spoiled by the original series. :P

My friend told me she cried during the Nina scene. I didn't, but that's because I'm completely heartless.

*spoiler warning, for those who haven't watched FMA before*

I didn't even cry at Hughes' funeral, but that's a different story.

I think admitting that the original series spoiled it's viewers is a testament to its power.

I hope that this new series is dragged out from now on. I want to see every detail.

What I don't want to worry about - whether in the near or far future - is filler episodes.

Alright. I feel like getting some of this out of my system, seeing as I've been rewatching the series, and I've been cooped up all day with no one to really talk to.

Now that I've passed the first season, and starting to dive into the second one, I've been noticing a lot of things that bug me about the original series. First off, the Wrath story arc. Seeing it again, I now realize how much of a broken record it was. They're always talking about how the brat isn't human, and always bringing up the same gorram reasons. This goes on for a good 3 or 4 episodes, so it gets tiring quite fast.

This only lead me to a more stunning realization about some of the characters. You see, since Brotherhood has come out, I've been diving deeper into the plot of the manga, and I've gotten to know some of the characters better. So, here's my first thing -- Edward is too emotional, as far as comparing him to the manga plot goes. Sure, he still gets angry a lot, but as far as having those sad moments, he's a lot tougher in the manga. He keeps up the persona of the stronger brother, mostly for the sake of Alphonse and those around him. Altogether, he just seems much more mature in the manga, despite Alphonse being much more so still.

Speaking of which, let's talk about Winry. I never liked her in the series. She would get upset at the drop of the hat, and it happened often. In the manga, however, she also is a much stronger individual. She expresses her tom-boyish attitude a lot better. I actually like her character. She's a much more enjoyable person.

Two other characters to mention quick before I move on - Maria Ross and Barry the Chopper. Maria seemed to nag way too much in the series, for silly reasons. "These boys need to be protected!" Yeah, well, what are you gonna do if Scar shows up? Alchemists don't even stand a chance against him, what makes you think your pistol will? On Barry the Chopper - he's less of a creeper and more of a comic relief ploy in the books, which I love. They never meet him when he's human, which only adds to the laughs, because during the AlxBarry fight, he becomes very offended when Al says he's never heard of him. Barry also plays a bigger role, so we see him more often, thus we have more laughs in the process.

On to bigger things. A big plothole (or at least a weak plot point) I want to talk about is post-Hughes business. In the series, the case is suspended, and Roy Mustang, the poor guy's best friend, shows little effort in investigating the murder. Now we look at the books. Not only does his death screw with the Colonel's life and well-being (he loses sleep and weight by over-investigating), but the police force frames and convicts Maria Ross for the crime without a trial. Not only does this fully display the corrupted tendencies of the military, but it makes a lot more sense. Any real military wouldn't drop a murder case of someone of his rank so quickly. Hughes lived a short life in the books, only making it to about the fourth manga. He was more of a plot device than a character, and though I love the guy to death, he's better suited to be that.

This is more nit-picking than anything, but has anyone ever noticed how many times characters say "Philosopher's Stone" in the series? The whole point of it is that it's a legend, and rarely spoken of. So why is it that everybody and their brother seems to know about it? It's a little ridiculous.

All in all, though I still enjoy the series, I must say that the enjoyment has declined over time, now that I know more of the original plot. It's well-written and more thought out, and the characters are more likeable.

I'm sure my rant broke your heart, Nick, but you haven't given the original plot a real chance it seems.

I'm not going to bash either series. I like to think i've grown beyond that as an anime fan. I am very happy to see the original plot animated, even if they really haven't gotten to the new stuff yet.

I will warn that all those wishing for the plot to drag a bit should be careful of what they wish for. Look what happened to Dragonball Z. People wanted that to drag too, and near the end an arc would last 70+ episodes.

Ok. I absolutely love that they went back to follow the manga. That's what I wanted so bad. But I do love the original as well. I'm a huge Fullmetal fan as my friends can attest to. I'll watch both over and over. I love this series.

Okay, firstly, I want to state that I never said I hated this show. But I'm a critic and a cynic, I'm hopelessly mean to stuff I like and I give praise when a series is worthy in my eye. Unfortunately, I'm not feeling it yet.

I wont deny the fight scenes look great and are paced well, but I'm not a big fan of typical shounen anime and so far that's all I'm getting here. It hasn't really captured my heart. While I would watch it when it was on, and I wouldn't avoid it, I don't foresee myself going out of my way to watch this series either.

If you're going to do a remake, you're going to get compared to the predecessor, that's part of the game. From Batman Begins to Casino Royale, so a comparison is in no way unfair. The same can be said of sequels. Brotherhood is comparable to Terminator Salvation in this regard; as we see in T1 and T2 a story that involves time travel and robots, but is, at its core a study of being human and what exactly it means to be in that state, while Salvation is simply a sci-fi about robots blowing things up. Or put simply in terms of meat the original was a fillet Mignon to me, while Brotherhood is No-Name Steak. Both are arguably steak, but I find one much more satisfying.

Just got done watching episode 10. If anyone has any doubts about how well-done the new Brotherhood is, then just go watch that episode. (Yes. It is the big Hughes scene)
