And as for the "he's only hurting himself, so it's okay"- obviously he IS hurting others, if his friend Neko Toast here is very concerned. He might not be ramming into them with jousting logs, but he is damaging friendships and causing at least one person worry. I think that counts as 'hurting others.'

Yeah nothing like being stoned..and having to go pounding on doors at weird times of the day...yeah man you have to go outside.....

I seem to recall that The Offspring had a song called "What Happened to You?" about a friend who smoked all the time and became pointless. It's on the album "Smash."

Part of the motivation for his stories may be the Big City effect. It could be that he hadn't imagined he'd be off doing these kinds of things, and is a bit surprised at doing them. <shrug>

If his stories bother you, comment that they're boring and pointless. If you have some programming skill, write a short program to generate random stoner stories.

Another thing you can do, and you have to be subtle about it, is tell stories about the interesting things that other people have done recently. His stories of "Man, we were so baked" will seem small in comparison to "We went to the zoo and Dave figured out how to control the penguins, and then Al commanded the otters to dance, and they did!" Hopefully he'll feel left out and regain an active lifestyle.

Finally met up with him today. He never spoke of any pot-smoking stories, so I'm not as worried as I was before. Perhaps I was over-reacting.
