Let's play a game.

No, not that type of game.

I'm kind of a freak when it comes to music--I like a wide variety of styles, and generally the more obscure the better. So I propose that this is where we come to recommend the most out-there, unknown, underground, and underappreciated musicians you can think of.

I'll begin with I Voted for Kodos. For any fan of ska in Wisconsin, this is a well-known name. Outside of that, though, you're more likely to think of that Simpsons episode. Unfortunately, they're no longer together but did give us such great songs as "She Hates Ska" and "Pastaroni".

I saw 'I Voted for Kodos' live when they played one of the smaller Warped Tour stages a couple years back. I agree, good show.

Great Thread. I will start out with:

Tapes n' Tapes

"Tapes rec Josh Grier says their first album was recorded "...in the winter time at a cabin in the Wisconsin woods with no running water. It was a lot fun to do it on our own and get a little crazy, but it was also frustrating since we didn't really know entirely what we were doing"

They make strange, alternative music, that is fun to listen to. They have a garage band type feel.
Spittin' is a nasty habit...

Hmm...Strange and fairly obscure music...

Mozzy Green is a small indy band based out of London; I had a friend send me a song and instantlyfound enjoyment from it. Happy Wednesday are a nerdrock band out of EC; I really enjoyed their concert at DaishoCon this year :P.

They're less obscure, but still good:
Scarling
Portishead
The Real Tuesday Weld

If you're a KoL player, just look at my Terrarium. It has pretty much all the music I listen to/used to listen to.
I have to warn you, I am a bit odd...
Also, I don't know better than to leave myself logged in on April 1st.

Oh my gosh, another KoL player? I love that game!

To keep to the subject, I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness, besides being an awesome indie rock band from Austin, Texas, has one of the greatest band names ever.

I used to help roady around my friends band gear when they were first getting together I used to sit around and draw for long lengths of time while they practiced. I know how much work goes into a band and I always try to search for bands that many dont know and are really good. Like back in the day when korn first came out me and some friends used to sit in the halls and blair the music from his locker. Everybody was like wow your retarded that music sucks blah blah blah. then they took off and everybody was wearing korn shirts.

Currently I'm a huge suporter of Birthday Massacre who I first discovered on a flash movie on newgrounds. I had to search them out and found them I can truthfully say they are my favorite band. The Imagery and art is really fantastic and I could sit and listen to the songs for hours. They are probably not as obscure now but I suported them since day one and always introduce people to them when I can.

(I have about 10 different obscure bands to introduce but I'll wait for others to post)

Lunatica. Their a rather obscure Swiss metal band(obscure to the point nobody I know has ever listened to them without my direct influence.)

Their music is absolutely amazing.

They have a new album releasing this year, and I'm hoping it's as amazing as the last two.
In addition
Eyes of Eden, Swashbuckle, and Alestorm all deserve mention here. The latter two are pirate metal.
Given that I would never live that down, I made a wisecrack instead. "Do you have a little white dress? I've had this deep-seated nurse fantasy about you, Murphy."
Harry Dresden
(If you don't get the meaning here be glad)
