Music While Sleeping.

Postby Liquid86 on Thu Feb 19, 2009 10:56 pm

Does anyone else need to have music playing while they sleep? Even as a DJ i never did until i began frequently spending the night with my GF. She has her compy shuffling through her itunes library everynight while she sleeps... Now I need to have music playing to sleep correctly too...

Especially if she isnt with me...

Anyone else have this problem?

I wouldn't call it a problem necissarily. I usually sleep with some kind of background noise, whether it be an audiobook, music or just a fan. Personally, if I don't have something like that I usually spend a few hours being generally contemplative. While that's nice sometimes, others I just want to get to sleep so it's nice to have something to concentrate on other than my reflections on the day.

It's really not... except those rare nights when I can't have music now :P but those are rare, so you're right. I just think it's funny how a few nights of it with my girlfriend have gotten me hooked. I used to need silence to sleep.

I fall asleep better with music on, but if the music is still on it'll wake me up again an hour or so later. I hate taking hours to fall asleep, it kills my personality in alot of ways.
Given that I would never live that down, I made a wisecrack instead. "Do you have a little white dress? I've had this deep-seated nurse fantasy about you, Murphy."

I used to fall asleep to a lot of noise.... when I was younger, early high school years, I had bad asthma, and so I had an air cleaner running in my room 24/7, but lately I fall asleep better if it's quiet.

I can sleep without music. However, with it I'm dead in like three seconds. Then I turn off the music in my sleep. Just like I do with my alarm clock. :P

Alice by Tom Waits is a good choice IMO, but I have crazy person musical tastes :P

I usually have my radio on, or if I'm at someone elses place, I put my headphones under my pillow.
I do it mostly cause I HATE quiet, it makes me feel awkward and paranoid, and I jump at sounds in the night i don't know...a little kiddish but yeah.
It also gives me something simple to put my mind on so it doesn't wander into it's own world where I end up staying awake for another hour to see what happens next.

I listen to WIFC every night. Just hit the Sleep button and it plays the radio for an hour. I've been doing that since I don't know when..

Lately I've been sleeping to the Black Mages a lot, actually. Though, yes, just about any form of music will work provided it is not too horribly loud.
I have to warn you, I am a bit odd...
Also, I don't know better than to leave myself logged in on April 1st.

I can't fall asleep unless there is music playing. I've been this way since mid highschool. I found out over the period of a week where my tv didn't work that music puts me to sleep. By now I'm conditioned to fall asleep if i listen to music with little or no other stimuli. It's great for me because i'm an insomniac. However I am prone to taking long drives which is bad because the only stimuli is the road noise, that with the music is like a sleeping drug. I can fall asleep with any type of music playing. At one point I was listening to Children of Bodom to sleep to. Recently I've gotten into more cliche punk like Simple Plan and Reliant K.
