Panel Idea - Interactive Art Panel

Postby Kara kuro on Sun May 10, 2009 9:01 pm

I ran a panel on traditional art last year and had a pretty good turnout (for being opposite Tiffany Grant on a Sunday) and I was thinking of changing it into a kind of a bring-your-own-sketch-book workshop for developing artists to get help and ask questions. I just got back from Acen where a similar panel was run and it was far too much fun for it's own good.

All I'd need is a bunch of sketch paper and some pencils and stuff... Maybe some drawing boards?

Also - would any fellow artists be interested in helping me out?

Considering the fact that I've been trying to work on my art skillz by drawing anything at least every few days, I would probibly attend something like this. I probibly wouldn't be an active member of the audience (I hardly ever am), but I've always liked watching people draw. While what I draw is still EXTREEMLY bad, I have improved from gouging my eyes out at any sight of my own work. And so far, I am satisfied...

Getting back on topic, you have my support! :)

actualy since out of the 3 staff artists we all have pretty different styles I really want to do this. Did you want tim's involvement? or do you want to keep this amateur. I personaly would keep it amatuer but we could have a small segment were tim could come in and answer questions for a few minutes and give advise.

I'll help you set this up and work with you on managing this event.

I could see a lot of people being a bit intimidated by Tim being there... Although if he wants to come and help out I would in no way tell him 'no'. Otherwise, if he wants to do any art panels himself he's welcome to it.

I'm not an artist (just married to one) but it might be an interesting addition to have some people come in to model, either in costumes or in street clothes. The aforementioned spouse-artist does talk a lot about models being a must. I am sure many of the people in costume would be happy to model.

[font=Georgia]This sounds like an awesome idea!
I was going to go to the one at aces, but I unfortunately had other things to deal with,
but I heard it was loads of fun!
I say go for it! And if it happens I'll definitely be there! >:'D
