CONvergence

I enthusiastically recommend CONvergence in Bloomington, MN. It is a general sci-fi/fantasy fan con with about 3K people. The biggest draw are the party rooms. There are three floors of party rooms, two of which circle the indoor pool courtyard. It is a very similar configuration as the hotel used by DaishoCon.

So maybe you could say it is just for research...yes, research, that you are going to CONvergence over 4th of July weekend.

Steam Century is hosting one of the famous room parties this year. We will be hosting two mystery events, one on Friday and one on Saturday. We will also be offering rum rations to new recruits, mini games and fashion shows. Come join us!

I've been to Convergence as well and I echo the endorsement. I was thoroughly impressed by the level of effort that went into the room parties, such as the House Of Toast, who lined the walls with aluminum foil and vertical red lights to simulate the inside of a toaster. The Dystopian Future party was providing bar-code temporary tattoos for the back of your neck. Then there was Captain Kirk's House of Ill Repute. ;)

Oh, and it's not just the parties. They had awesome panels and an impressive science room (and programming track). If it wasn't so far away from me I'd be going every year.

I'm going for the first time this year. I've heard nothing but good things about this convention, and I'm really looking forward to a chance to try out the Steam Century mystery--I was too busy at NoBrand this year.

You get two chances for mysteries this year if you are busy with the bazillion other things to do at Convergence. We are also holding mini-games and a crafting session during the afternoon, when things are quiet in the party areas. Should be a spectacular con.
